Superintendent's Message

As I enter my first year as the new Superintendent of the Brackett ISD School system I must share the main reason that this was the district I wanted to begin my Superintendent’s career in. Pride is the key word that represents this district and that pride fuels my desire to be a member of this great team of educators.  As I have dealt with the board of trustees for the last several years as well as the stakeholders in this district, it is evident that there is an unyielding pride in our district, pride in our community and pride in our diversity. I have seen and shared the vision of success for our students that begin with our trustees, district employees, teachers, family members as well as this great community.

We are prepared and committed to offer each student an education that will open the door to the world of success for their taking. Our goal is, and always has been to be the best school district in the state of Texas, which requires a collaborative effort of this district, community and its leaders.  We will also not detour from our expectations of a higher standard of learning that is unprecedented and unmatched for the students of this district. Our teachers are focused on offering the students of Bracket ISD a 21st century learning experience that will allow them the opportunity to achieve the goals and dreams they have set forth.  It is the desire of this district that each and every one of our students gain the educational experience that will fill them with the pride that only a Brackett Tiger or Tigerette could possess.

BENJAMIN RODRIGUEZ MEMORIAL FUND
With the sudden passing of Benjamin Rodriguez, the family has made us aware that Benjamin Rodriguez Sr. is in dire need of funds to cover the funeral costs for his son. To help with this need, an account has been set up at the Bank and Trust in his name. We know during hard times, this community stands strong and supports those in need. Please make all donations to the Benjamin Rodriguez Memorial Service Fund.

BENJAMIN RODRIGUEZ...
It is with great sadness that I report the passing of High School student Benjamin Rodriguez at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, Saturday, January 24, 2015.

Benjamin was a special kid who I had grown fond of because of the turn around he had made at Brackett in the past several years. Last year Benjamin was the outstanding family consumer science student and had built a reputation for his great cooking skills through the culinary arts program.

Brackett ISD will have grief counselors in place Monday morning at school to support any of students, friends and staff. Brackett ISD has been all to familiar with tragedies in our school family in the past several years but the unique family type atmosphere of this community and school will hold us strong through times such as these. I ask that you keep the Rodriguez family and all of Ben's family and friends in your prayers in this time of despair. Brackett ISD will update you through our web page and facebook page when there has been a time set for services.

Sincerely,
Kevin W. Newsom
Superintendent
