"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."  - John Dewey

Superintendent's Message

As I enter my first year as the new Superintendent of the Brackett ISD School system I must share the main reason that this was the district I wanted to begin my Superintendent’s career in. Pride is the key word that represents this district and that pride fuels my desire to be a member of this great team of educators.  As I have dealt with the board of trustees for the last several years as well as the stakeholders in this district, it is evident that there is an unyielding pride in our district, pride in our community and pride in our diversity. I have seen and shared the vision of success for our students that begin with our trustees, district employees, teachers, family members as well as this great community.

We are prepared and committed to offer each student an education that will open the door to the world of success for their taking. Our goal is, and always has been to be the best school district in the state of Texas, which requires a collaborative effort of this district, community and its leaders.  We will also not detour from our expectations of a higher standard of learning that is unprecedented and unmatched for the students of this district. Our teachers are focused on offering the students of Bracket ISD a 21st century learning experience that will allow them the opportunity to achieve the goals and dreams they have set forth.  It is the desire of this district that each and every one of our students gain the educational experience that will fill them with the pride that only a Brackett Tiger or Tigerette could possess.

Kevin W. Newsom – Brackett ISD Superintendent

News and Announcements

It was reported to the school, by the Kinney County Sheriff's Department early this morning, that there was a suspicious individual on or close to Hwy 90 and the surrounding area trying to solicit a ride out of Brackettville. It has been confirmed that the individual is no longer in the City of Brackettville. Brackett ISD worked hand in hand with the Kinney County Sheriff's Department by following our safety protocol for this type of situation. Sheriff's deputies and Brackett ISD Administrators have been visible on our campus before school started this morning. We did conduct a district-wide LOCKOUT which meant all of our students stayed in their first period classrooms with the doors locked, including all external doors to every building district-wide. Students were not allowed to move outside of their classrooms and our BISD Resource Officer has been patrolling our district campuses from one end to another. BISD administration and staff have emergency safety procedures in place to handle these types of situations and I am very proud of how they handled the situation today. The safety of your children is the most important factor we deal with at Brackett ISD and is the number one priority for our administration, board of trustees and staff.
