Care and Maintenance of the Chromebook

  1. The care of the Chromebook is the student's responsibility.
  2. Never leave the device unattended. When not in your personal possession, the Chromebook should be in a secure, locked environment. Unattended Chromebooks will be collected and stored in the school’s office.
  3. Because the Chromebook is intended for daily use, it must be charged nightly so it is ready for use every day. Do not leave your Chromebook in your locker overnight.
  4. Your Chromebook comes with a protective case to help minimize damage. The Chromebook must remain in the protective case at all times when not in use. The device and cover must remain free of stickers, writing, painting, or any other forms of decoration.
  5. Do not lend your Chromebook to another person. Each Chromebook is assigned to an individual student and the responsibility for the care of the device rests with the assigned student.
  6. The Chromebook is an electronic device and care must be exercised when handling the device. Never throw or slide the Chromebook or a book bag that contains the device. Never place the Chromebook in a book bag that contains food, liquids, heavy, or sharp objects. Avoid placing weight on the Chromebook.
  7. Avoid applying liquids to the Chromebook. The device can be cleaned with a soft, slightly water-dampened, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in the openings. Do not use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean the Chromebook.
  8. Never expose a Chromebook to long-term extremes in temperature or direct sunlight. Do not store your Chromebook in your vehicle.
  9. Do not use the USB ports on your Chromebook for charging accessories (for example phones, tablets, or mobile hotspots).
  10. Each Chromebook has a unique serial number and identification sticker. At no time should these numbers or stickers be modified or removed.
  11. Each Chromebook has the ability to be remotely located. Modifying, disabling or attempting to disable the locator is a violation of the acceptable use policy and grounds for disciplinary action.
  12. Beginning with the 22-23 Chromebook distribution, chargers will be engraved with the same asset number as the student's Chromebook.
