Counseling Services
Brackett Secondary's comprehensive school counseling program supports students' academic, career, personal, and social development. Services may include:
- Individual academic planning, course selection, graduation planning, and transition support
- College, career, military, dual-credit, testing, and scholarship guidance
- Short-term school-based counseling, problem-solving, and crisis response
- Coordination with families, campus staff, and community resources when additional support is appropriate
School counseling is an educational support and is not a substitute for emergency, medical, or ongoing clinical mental-health care. Families seeking community-based care may contact the counselor for referral information.
Graduation and Financial Aid
Graduation requirements are determined by a student's graduation plan, cohort year, coursework, assessment information, and other applicable state and local requirements. Students and families should meet with the counselor before making schedule changes or relying on an online resource for an individual graduation decision.
Financial-aid graduation requirement
Texas students must complete and submit a FAFSA, complete and submit a TASFA, or submit a signed opt-out form before graduating. This requirement applies to students completing grade 12; eligibility and documentation requirements differ by option.

College, Career, and Military Planning
Students are encouraged to begin exploring postsecondary options early. The counselor can help with applications, transcripts, fee-waiver questions, recommendations, testing, scholarships, and planning for college, technical training, careers, or military service.

Scholarships
Start with scholarships offered by prospective colleges, local organizations, employers, and trusted nonprofit or government sources. Never pay a fee to apply for a scholarship or share sensitive personal information with an unverified website. The counselor can help students review scholarship opportunities and deadlines.
Family Resources and Consent
Brackett ISD provides parent information and consent forms for school services. Families may review the Parental Rights and Options Information Form, the Consent for Health-Related Services Form, and the Consent for Counseling Services Form on the BISD Parent Forms page. Counseling services are provided consistent with applicable notice, consent, confidentiality, and reporting requirements.
