BJHS 8th Grade Graduation Parade will be Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 6 p.m.  Please contact your student’s teachers or Ms. Price for additional guidelines and details.

Brackett High School Senior Graduation is scheduled to be held on Friday, May 29, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.  The ceremony will be an in-person outdoor event.  Due to COVID-19, there are many guidelines that we must adhere to in order to have an in-person ceremony.  We ask the cooperation of all our students, families, and community to work with us in order to have a dignified classy ceremony to honor students.  I know that there will be some inconveniences; we aim for a first class event for our seniors under current conditions.

In the instance of a Graduate and/or family feeling uncomfortable attending the ceremony, BHS will have Alternate Accommodations.  This option will allow a graduate and family to receive their diploma and take pictures at the stage with extremely limited people in the stadium.  The Graduate will only be allowed four additional people from their household.  Please see below for additional details.

In order to hold an in-person ceremony the following guidelines must be ensured:

Attendance

  • The Graduate plus 4 members of the graduate’s household may attend (5 attendees total per graduate).
  • BISD personnel, local law enforcement, and local health officials will be present to help ensure compliance.
  • All in attendance must wear a mask at all times (it is strongly recommended for children three and younger to wear a mask).
  • All BISD dress code and conduct guidelines are applicable for Graduation participation.
  • Attendees will not be allowed to congregate before, during, or after the graduation ceremony at Tiger Stadium.
  • There will be assigned parking, seating, and dismissal process to protect social distancing.
  • There will not be a graduation rehearsal.
  • Seating will be on the field only and seating anywhere else to include the bleachers will not be permitted.

Parking & Entry

  • All guests will park by their assigned entry/exit gate.
  • Graduation guests will be allowed to enter Tiger Stadium at 7:45 p.m.
  • Attendees will be screened and questioned for COVID-19 symptoms (Persons are asked not to attend if COVID-19 symptoms are present).
  • If symptoms are present, a person will not be allowed into the graduation ceremony.
  • Four entries and exits gates will be utilized. All attendees will be assigned an entry/exit gate.
  • If special accommodations for parking and seating are needed, please contact Ms. Price immediately (i.e. disability, wheelchair, etc...)

Ceremony

  • The ceremony will be a modified/shortened ceremony.
  • By shortening the ceremony, the restrooms will be for emergencies only and monitored.
  • Pictures of graduates will be taken at the stage by professional photographer only. Attendees must remain at their assigned seating.
  • Only the graduate may remove their mask during the ceremony to take the picture on stage.
  • The ceremony will be broadcasted live for people to view remotely.

Exiting Ceremony

  • Dismissal will be by assignment.
  • Once dismissed, attendees will be asked to go to their assigned exit immediately. Please wait for all members of the household at your vehicles.
  • Attendees will not be allowed to congregate in the parking lot.

Graduate Alternative Accommodations

  • Must notify Ms. Price by Wednesday, May 22, 2020, by noon.
  • Graduate will have the presentation of diploma and picture only at Tiger Stadium.
  • Graduate and family will not participate nor be present in the general ceremony.

Ms. Christy Price (Secondary Principal) will be communicating with all seniors the details of expectations, assigned gates, and ceremony flow.  Additional questions may be directed to Ms. Price or me.  Ms. Price will communicate the expectations and assignment details to all seniors on the required zoom meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at 1:00 p.m.  All seniors are required to attend the 1:00 p.m. zoom meeting.  Parents are welcomed to join the zoom with their graduate.  Seniors will pick up Graduation Packet and Senior Gift at High School Front Lawn on Thursday, May 28th

Any Secondary student/family still needing to pick-up their personal belongings or drop off school district property may do so on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.  The times will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The pick-up/drop off will be drive thru on Fulton Street.  Please contact Ms. Price for additional information or special circumstances.

Please be informed that starting on June 1st, BISD will return to its normal summer hours.  Barring any mandates and changes to the current status, the BISD Summer Hours start on June 1st and end August 6th.  BISD office hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday (Friday’s all BISD facilities and services will be closed).

Please be informed that Brackett ISD will end its current food service program on May 29, 2020.  Brackett ISD will not serve meals during the summer 2020.  The State of Texas will have a P-EBT SNAP Program (this program will assist families in need with food).   Families may need to register for this program, BISD is not able to register a family.  There is a registration process and qualification criteria a family must meet in order receive the assistance.  BISD will be mailing information on the P-EBT SNAP Program to families that may qualify.  Registration will be open the first week of June and close June 30th.  Please be mindful of news and postal mail.  Once again, the SNAP Program is not a BISD program and BISD is not be able to register a family.

Brackett ISD has appreciated the cooperation of all.  Over the summer, I will continue to periodically post information BISD plans for the 2020-2021 school year.  At the time of this communication, the state has not provided definite guidance on the opening of school for the next school year.  As the plans and guidance continues to be released, BISD must change and adapt to be in compliance with new mandates.  We will do everything possible to secure the safety of our people while protecting the best interest of our students, employees, and community.  Please continue to check our Brackett ISD Website, Facebook, or call our offices (830.563.2491) for official information.

I wish everyone a wonderful and safe summer.  I will be in touch.  GO TIGERS!!!
