🚦 YouTube Access Update: What Teachers Need to Know
Hello, everyone! 👋
We’ve recently updated our GoGuardian content policies, and as part of this change, all of YouTube is now blocked by default for students.
This means that any instructional or classroom-use videos on YouTube will need to be manually reviewed and approved by the Technology Department before they can be accessed.
🧠 Why the Change?
The adjustment was made to:
-
Increase online safety and compliance with CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act).
-
Prevent students from accessing non-instructional or distracting content.
-
Ensure all media used in class meets district standards and supports learning goals.
🛠️ What This Means for You
If you plan to use a YouTube video during your lesson:
-
Submit a Tech Ticket through email.
-
Include the full YouTube URL in your request.
-
Add a short note explaining how the video supports your lesson or activity.
Once your request is reviewed, the video will be unblocked and approved for classroom access.
📅 Helpful Tip
Try to submit requests at least one day before your lesson to give our team time to process your request.
We’ll always do our best to get it approved as quickly as possible!💬 Questions?
If you’re unsure whether a video qualifies or need help locating approved educational content, feel free to open a tech support ticket by emailing us directly at tech@brackettisd.net.
