Brackett ISD provides students with school-issued Chromebooks to support daily learning. This article outlines the Chromebook models currently in use and explains best practices for proper use and care.

1. Chromebook Models in Use

As of 01/15/26, Brackett ISD primarily issues HP Chromebooks to students.

Current models include:

  • HP Chromebook G5

  • HP Chromebook G6

  • HP Chromebook G7

  • HP Chromebook G8

  • HP Chromebook G9

These models may vary slightly in size, performance, and features, but all are configured to meet district instructional needs.

2. How Chromebooks Are Assigned

  • Chromebook models are assigned based on:

    • Availability

    • Grade level

    • Instructional needs

  • Students may not request a specific model

  • All models are supported and maintained by the Technology Department

Regardless of version, all devices are expected to function the same for classroom use.

3. Best Use Practices

To keep Chromebooks working properly:

  • Bring the Chromebook to school fully charged

  • Use the device on a flat, stable surface

  • Log in using your BISD Google account only

  • Close the lid gently when finished

  • Shut down or log out when not in use

Chromebooks should be used for educational purposes only.

4. Care and Handling Guidelines

Students are responsible for the care of their assigned Chromebook.

Do:

  • Keep food and drinks away

  • Store the Chromebook in a backpack or case

  • Use the original charger only

  • Handle the device with clean, dry hands

Do not:

  • Write or place stickers on the Chromebook

  • Remove keys or labels

  • Slam the lid or bend the screen

  • Share the device with others

5. Reporting Problems or Damage

If a Chromebook is damaged or not working:

  1. Inform your teacher immediately

  2. Do not attempt to fix it yourself

  3. Follow campus instructions for repair or replacement

Damage fees may apply depending on the issue.
